Rewind

Vaelis made us rewind, but will they also make us replay?

Vaelis gets us all dancing on their third studio album, Rewind, seamlessly blending the irresistible beats of electropop and EDM with exceptionally high quality storytelling and lyricism. Beneath the upbeat production, a deeper dive into the album’s writing reveals anxious and contemplative themes delivered in signature Vaelis style. The sole departure from this mood is the lead single “Fantasy” a much lighter, simpler pop anthem that fan reactions have nevertheless embraced. While the tracklist occasionally leans into repetition on cuts like “Heart Is A Bomb,” “False Light,” and “Side Effects (Clear Of Care),” the album’s only true misstep is the title track, “Rewind,” which borrows elements from their sophomore project, Out Of Time, but fails to stand out. Overall, Rewind delivers a brilliant fusion of danceable electropop production and profound lyricism proving once again that Vaelis rarely misses.
